The current Irish Arms was established in 1870 making it one of the Oldest Buildings in Lisdoonvarna. It was also first used as a pub at around this time so has been used as a Public House for nearly 150 years now. The current owners, The McNamara Family, have owned the Pub since 1990.
Lisdoonvarna itself has been used as a Tourist destination for over 130 years. It has one of the best Natural Sulphur Spas in the world, which was the first reason it came to the attention of Holidaymakers in the 1880s. Since then Lisdoonvarna has also been made famous by the Music Festivals which took place from 1978-1983 and the song by written and sung by the legendary Christy Moore.
Today, Lisdoonvarna is noted for The Matchmaking Festival which takes place in the town annually during the month of September. Single Ladies and Gentlemen of all ages and nationalities flock to the town in the hope of meeting Mr or Mrs Right with the aid of local Matchmaker Willie Daly. Music and Dancing take place in the Town all day, everyday.
Lisdoonvarna also now boasts amazing Sports and Leisure Facilities included a state of the art Childrens Playground, Creche, GAA and Soccer Pitches, All weather Astro Turf pitches and the newly refurbished Town Hall which is a fantastic venue for Concerts and shows seating over 400 people.
